HENRY VII AT THE FOLGER!

Hi Scholars!

I'm Mary Bryce, a freshman in Columbian in the Dean's Scholars in Shakespeare Program. Our class went to see Henry VIII at the Folger a few days ago, and it was a pretty amazing production. I loved the creative directorial choice in having noblemen shouting from the balcony -- especially during Catherine of Aragon's court scene -- and the idea of the court jester playing several different roles and using hand puppets to almost poke fun at the characters. I think Henry was played excellently, he was at just the right level of sinister. I also really liked Cardinal Wolsey; his breakdown was very believable and pretty heart-wrenching. I highly suggest this production!
